British National Pride Falls Sharply

Eroding National Pride: A Reflection of Our Institutions' Failures A recent poll commissioned by think tank Demos reveals a sharp decline in national pride among Britons, with fewer than half (47%) expressing pride to be British.

This drop from 74% in 2011 is particularly striking when compared to the increasing sense of pride people feel for their local communities – a sentiment that has risen from 29% to 40% over the past decade.

The disconnect between national and local community pride is evident, with Britons questioning whether they belong, have a stake in the country's future, and believe its institutions serve them.
