Push to Clear Bushland in Sydney’s North Scrapped – for Now The Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council has withdrawn its plan to clear bushland on the Lizard Rock site in Belrose for up to 450 homes.
The proposal, known as Patyegarang, had been met with fierce opposition from locals and emergency services who raised concerns about the extreme bushfire risk, loss of native species, and strain on infrastructure.
The decision comes after years of debate, with the land council seeking to develop the site since 2006.
